His real name is Ray and is actually an unimposing gent. I expected some tweed dressed excentric. In reality he is a shrewd and talented seller. How he gets away with many of his claims is surprising. He does this for a living and does seem to move his pianos and cars eventually.

Yes Raymanboy semms be moving around since the death of his father whom he lived with and was his carer. When I went to see him YAP was in a garage he rented in the centre of Reading. He lived then in the Henley area. He semms to have moved on a couple of occasions since this time.

Hi Maybe this is one reason why the forum should be open!!!!!
I hadn't seen this post until today
I bought the Exxy with the Ritmo colours from Ray for £850 TNM 998R
I flew over to London got the train to Henly and got picked up By Ray and his Dad in his old Rolls Royce.
Ray isn’t his Real name its his Dads name he just calls himself that.
When he picked me up I opened the door of the Rolls and door card and armrest fell onto the road. That’s maybe not the best door to get in says Ray so walk around and get in the other side moving a pile of stuff over to the other side of the seat so I could actually get in.
His father was sitting in the front and as we drove off we introduced ourselves and had a great chat, first to a garage for £2.00 of petrol and a coffee for his Dad then Off to his home. His Dad (Ray 1) was a Salvationist and a gentleman and by the time we got to the house we were all getting along really well
The car was sitting outside so I spent a good half hour looking around it and it appeared very sound hardly any rust on the body & underside was well under sealed. Ray 2 and I then took it out for a drive for 20 mins came back and did the deal.
His Dad was still sitting in front of the Rolls all this time.
I asked if I could wash my hands before I left and he took me into the house. I am not going into details but if you’ve seen that TV show I think its how clean is your house
I am still waiting to see something worse than theirs.
Deal done he led the way to a garage for me to fill up and left me at the slip road of the motorway were I drove to Scotland to get the ferry home.
I can’t say anything about the hospitality of the pair of them they treated me very very well.
The car is another matter All the outer shell and where you can see was in fairly good nick when I started removing the under seal that was a different story.
I have now welded large sections of floor pan and all inner guards and turrets .wonderful what under seal can cover up and it still have a valid MOT
Shell now totally stripped down shot blasted, engine out coolant pipes out ( Well they fell out on there own) and now needing a lot of time to finish
THE END
Grahame

Yes I remember watching that car. Im also aware that they both seemed to call themselves Ray. Like you I had great hospitality and Yap was not in the state your car was. The engine had been boiled and was totally trashed sounded like an old piano this was described as requiring the tappets adjusting. Oil poured from a crack in the cylinder head. I could forgive them for that as bodily the car was good.

One point on knackered x1/9s all these cars now may need extensive TLC you carnt buy a car and expect it be like buying even an old 95 Astra. Its easy to find lots of faults on an old X. People need to buy wisely and appreciate the potential of the project. I for one have no regrets finding my Lido. Although I didnt do much of the work ive got lots of pleasure seeing here come together Its all a matter of choice.

i wish this attitude was more prevelant....caveat emptor...it would have been easy for you to come on this forum and start ranting, raving and slandering 'ol ray, start a 'shiny black shed' thread for instance..but you appear to have acted maturely and sensibly and your post backs this up.....well done that man....enjoy your fiat, sounds like a good un...
