Wanted: Fiat 500 Abarth Replica to go with my X1/9.

Well being a lover of all things Italian, the next thing on my list is a Fiat 500. Ideally id like an original Abarth or Giannini or even an Abarth or Giannini Replica.

For a car like this, it might be worthwhile making contact with Martin Thomas, Julian Brown and co at the Flying Loster club....

There was a cute little bunch of 'em at Goodwood, they even took some attention away from the Ferrari ogglers when they filed in, very sweet!

Yes theyre distinctive little thing, problem is people are asking silly money because they think they are worth more than they actually are!

Will be on the look out for some nice cars for sale at Lingotto in Torino this weekend. The Automotoretro classic car show has as every car show seems to have now, an auction. The diference with this one is it's all Italian metal, or at least 99% Italian machines for sale. I will take some nice photos of the event for the magazine plus a write up of course. Been too long since I was last in Italy, so this will be a cracking way of stoking up the enthusiasm for the summer.

I'm curious, I have never been a great fan of British sports cars but I do have a soft spot for Lotus. How does the exige stack up against the X1/9? Both mid engined and both handle superb but the Lotus is the new breed so what does it feel like getting out of the Lotus and stepping foot into the exy?

Just got the X1/9 out of hibernation this week so I havent had time to check out your question, on one sunny day soon I will do the same route in both cars and give you a definative answer!

There seems to be an Original Giannini 500 for sale at the moment, quite rare I believe but at £10,995 I think i'll have to give that one a miss!
