I've decided to be a bit sensible, and finally buy a newish "sensible" car.I've been looking at Stilo JTD Multiwagons, they are soo cheap for what you get,but they get pretty terrible reviews, and I've seen a few in for repair so far.Anyone got one??? Fit like??

P.S- I'm going to look at a Citroen Berlingo Multispace tomorrow.I just cant look at the Fiat Doblo without retching...there's even a Dukes of Hazzard orange one close to here......UGH!

To make up for it,I'm zipping about in a Cinquecento Sporting. :P Owning one of these should be THE LAW!!

We've had a 3 dr Stilo for 3 years from new. They're not as bad as they're made out to be, but I guess it depends what your expectations are.

Good points:
Dirt cheap
Decent stereo (recommend getting a dashboard mounted CD changer)
Cheap insurance
Low running costs - we've done 21000 miles in 3 years and haven't had to replace a single mechanical part.
Nice engines

Bad points:
Rubbish ventilation
Poor quality plastics (petrol cap cover fell off, parcel shelf mounts broke)
Squeaky clutch, especially in summer when hot
Creaking dashboard, especially in winter when heating is on.
Dull, dull, dull!

Hope that's some help,
Neil

Thanks for that, but I've signed on the dotted line for the Berlingo....Simple,rugged,economical and group 3 insurance!

(Keep it quiet but you can get a whole X1/9 engine and gearbox, and a pair of seats in the boot......)

I like the look of the Multiwagon, but have seen too many expensive recurring problems with modern Fiats, trailing arms, injectors, camshafts, ecu's etc.I just couldn't take the chance, and believe me,it makes me sad to say that.

OK - i'll make you feel even better now - I worked at a Citroen dealer for 7 years and never had a Berlingo van or Multispace back in the dealership with a serious problem. Great vehicle loads of 'em over here in France - i'd have one again at the drop of a hat!!

The company I was head mechanic for had 3 Berlingo vans, all 1.9D.They were abused, crashed, used as ladders, and generally trashed, but I never saw them between services. The Multispace is HUGE inside, surprisingly quiet, the ride comfort is excellent, parts cheap, and I could rebuild one with a 16mm spanner.I'll stick a towbar on it,and borrow my mates trailer to drag X1/9's in for far flung places.(If Lesley reads this,I'm denying everything...she thinks its hers...) :?
