Hi All,
Another question from me….sorry about that!
How difficult is the mod to allow your sidelights to operate without the pop up headlights being raised?
Gaz

Not 100% sure of the exact mod but it would likely involve a relay or two in the fusebox to isolate the motors raise command.
In addition you would need to enable that raise command when the headlights were on. By no means impossible but I think it would be a bodge.
To be quite honest, I considered this years ago and decided that the complexity of modifying the fusebox wasn't worth the level of mod required.
So, instead I fitted a lovely pair of Osram led Daylight Running Lights. They are much brighter than sidelights even with led bulbs.
I was concerned over the presence of the X1/9 on today's roads with it being so small, low and in my case silver

…..now that’s a great idea!
I guess you just wired the new LED side lights to a permanent live when engine on Alan?
I actually did this on my Range Rover but I separated the lights and fixed LED rings inside and wired back to a spare engine live in the fuse box.

Well depending on year, the RR is a diferent beast electrically!
I bought Osram (really good quality) DLR kit - like the PX-5 at £70, it comes with a tiny control module and full instructions.
I wired it into the headlamp pods wiring and I think it picks up Ign power but I ran a switched feed to it from a dashboard switch.
I mounted it just under the bumper and I think it fits neatly below the headlamp and abobe the driving light.
Really pleased with them and are as bright as any new car on the road today.
