A plea for Magazine content! was created by Gomer Roberts
As is traditional with all X1/9 Owners Club Magazine Editors, I'm calling out to you members for content for the magazine.
Technical articles, Me and my car, Car show reports, Trip reports, X1/9 owning history, Your favourite X1/9 photo, etc, etc.
Photos to accompany articles always a good idea.
Cover photos are always in demand - so have to be 'portrait' format or at least high enough quality in landscape mode that they can be cropped to portrait and still look good.
I have the Spring edition on the go and would welcome your submissions by the end of the first week in April.
And after then for future magazines of course!
Send to editor@x1-9ownersclub.org.uk

.....I have some mechanical work to do as described in another thread.
I will try and document as much as I can with photos and cobble a short article together if it'll help!
I need to change the oil seal rings in my diff where the haft shafts enter it.
Gaz.

Oh yes, go on!
Love to learn how you do it.
I'm a decades long electronics engineer with many old datebooks from the 80s and could not locate that chip and assume it was a special for Veglia and not out there.
I resorted to a bodge using a cheap eastern clock / voltmeter / temperature module. It has the same led size as the Veglia one so looks the same.
The disadvantage is it couldn't be dimmed as the voltage is on the readout but the plus is temperature and battery volts. Oh and the module was 2 for £5.
Just playing with CAN bus between a few microcontrollers - just to keep my mind active and for my home smart system. The clock does not need a CANbus of course.

He found the issue in about 5mins! Basically a transistor had died. He thinks due to insufficient heat sink cooling.
That should be an NPN transistor, not a paperweight.
Looks to be a pretty standard part, so I might even have a suitable substitute in stock. If not shouldn't be a problem to get a replacement ordered in.
I've changed the two electrolytic capacitors as I think it just makes sense to future proof things while I'm already in here - and for the sake of less than ten minutes and about £0.15 of components there's really no reason not t

.....is there a format for the article layouts or do you just want the write up, photos and you will do any editing?
I remember reading that there was a maximum column count maybe before it would go off the page and ruin the formatting.
Gaz.

Hi Gaz,
Just put it down in word format. Gomer will make it fit the mag.
You could send the photos in separate to the article and again Gomer will arrange it all.
Cheers
Andy

Hey Guys!
Okay, I've drafted out a guide on replacing the diff oil ring seals along with photos.
Feel free to edit as you see fit.
I just need to know where to email it.
I'd be glad of some feedback if it reads okay!
Gaz.
EDIT:.......sorry guys, just found the email address in the post!! Article and photos now sent.
