Quick oil pressure sensor question!

Hey guys,

I have a quick question.
So, I won't go through the annoying oil leak saga with you again but after replacing 3 gaskets, I replaced the aluminium crush washer to the oil pressure sensor today.
Haven't taken it for a run yet as the weather is torrential this weekend.
If this doesn't solve it, the final replacement will be the sump gasket.

Anyway, can I ask you all in your experience if you've ever known of a leak from the oil pressure sensor itself or is it a sealed unit?
Would a leak only ever come from a badly fitted crush washer?

Gareth.

The oil pressure sensor unit can leak if it failing. However, you would not be getting an oil pressure reading on the gauge. I assume you are getting a reading?

Replacing the sump gasket is quite an involved job.
There are about 20 bolts holding it in place. However, 4 of them can only be accessed by removing the cross member supporting the lower engine mounting and gear box. So the job needs a bit of planning.

......thanks again for heads up Andy......yes, I'm getting normal readings.
The sump gasket doesn't phase me.
After I changed the head gasket on my wife's 2014 Ford Ka, I felt I could do anything! Had to jack and support the bottom of the engine to remove the engine mounting.
I guess on the X1/9 I'd have to support the engine from the top if the sump cover needs removing.....I'll figure it out later if it needs doing.

Thanks,

Gareth.

You can support the gear box from below while doing it.
