Dashboard bulb replacement was created by Richard Morris
After driving the car at night last Monday, for the first time in four years, I decided to look at the bulb. Certainly a little thermal desorption with the filament. Hopefully the new replacement is a little better.

That looks like time to replace for sure.
I have been thinking about LEDs for the dash lights, I have not used this company or have I even bought these yet, but I am thinking I will when that project gets to the top of the list.

Apparently they are dimmable so not problem with the rheostat. According to the question I asked of them, they dim between 9v and 11v. Not checked but that sounds like they might be an easy swap and at that price not going to break the bank for a change
