Finding my old car was created by Allen Swales
Hi, I bought an X1/9 Lido 1300cc version new in November 1978. I loved that car and out of interest I checked the reg number on DVLA. Apparently it has never been scrapped but the last time it was due for taxing was 1994. I know I couldn't afford it no matter what state it is in but I would love to see it again. The reg number was NHD 145 T. If anyone knows of it or where it is I would love to know!
Many thanks

Hello Allen,
I’ve been compiling a register of X1/9s for the last nine years and so far I’ve found a trace for 444 Lido’s, of which 28 exist, sadly your car isn’t one of those. I don’t know but I suspect its details are still on line due to its log book and paperwork not being properly completed to show the authorities that it’s been disposed of (others may know the real reason). Very occasionally cars thought to be long gone do reappear for sale I’ve seen about six such ad’s. I’m sorry that I can’t be more upbeat.

Thank you for that Keith, much appreciated! Is there a rally of X1/9's in the North sometime this year, I would love to actually see a Lido again if one goes, that is!
Were there only ever 444 Lido versions?

Hello Allen,
Just in case you haven't seen it there's a Lido on eBay.

I don't know these designations Cameron. Is that one of the original 1300cc Lido's?

That was the year we bought ours Cameron, I still have the brochure, service book and the original sales envelope that was handed to us when we bought it. It was £4,400 on the road at the time. There can't be many of the Lido version left in the UK. Do you know if yours is the only one? I just realised that XGM 220 T is your reg, I thought that was some sort of designation, hence my last message Doh! My mind isn't as agile as it was! Have you had it from new?
