Heater - ventilation controls removal

My lower control is stuck mid position. Flap under windscreen wipers is half open, will move but springs back to mid position..
Will I have to remove dashboard to work on it?
Any advise would be appreciated.

I had the same problem with the stuck Flap control and found that the rubber brake and clutch hoses had slipped under the open Flap jamming the vent control, you can access the flap vent by removing the two plastic grills by the bonnet and put your hand behind where the bonnet catch is and move the hoses away from the vent.
