Would you buy an X1/9 from an Auction. was created by JB
Hi Guys,
There’s a couple of X1/9s coming up for auction with no reserves, I was just wondering if I’m opening a can of worms buying from an auction?
Your opinions would be appreciated.

You haven't said if they are online or actual auctions, but the same applies to both really. You get a chance to view the cars before hand, so although it may not be a complete assessment, you can get a fair idea of condition and history, before the auction ends.
You can then walk away from the car, and decide in your own time what value you place on it and nine times out of ten, if you win you will get not necessarily a bargain, but a fairly priced car.
Obviously the above is only my personal experience and you will also hear many horror stories!
Good luck if you go for it

Hi Ian,
Yes they are at actual auction houses but miles and miles from where I live.
It’s just I’ve noticed that the X1/9s recently sold at auctions look to have been bargains.

Hi Ian, JB.
I bought from an auction, I paid low money and am not too disappointed with what I have. A lot of work to do which doing it myself , I know it’s how I want it.
In reality I think holding out for a car that is well known within the club is probably the Best Buy you could hope to get. Everyone’s budget is different and that often dictates how we go about it.
The auction suited me but if I’m honest it’s not the best choice.
I hope my honesty helps in your decision.
One final thought!
If you make a major mistake at auction and you have space you could break it up for parts and probably break even
Regards
Andy
