Hello, I can’t find a topic for the forthcoming meeting so have started a new one.
I am planning on going to brooklands on the Sunday. I see that there is a Sunday drive through central London is planned before hand but are the organisers aware it’s the final stage of the tour of Britain and some roads will be closed? Eg regent street from 3am.

Hi Richard, yes we were aware that there are some events on that weekend. The route through London on the Sunday morning takes this into account.
Thanks for mentioning it though.
See you at Brooklands on the Sunday.
Cheers
Andy

Just making sure someone was aware of the big event!
I hope to be at Brooklands, but need to get the brakes fixed first. The off side rear is sticking on- new flexi hoses etc arrived from Eurosport today so I just need my mechanic friend to pop over and sort it out.

Hopefully I will be there at Brooklands on Sunday with my car.
However.
Yesterday I bled the brakes once more in the faint hope of stopping power then started the engine to be greeted with considerable noise initially which seemed to be coming from the alternator. A quick check with a multimeter revealed zero output at idle and only 13V at 4000 rpm. Ordered a new one which arrived this morning.
Discovered that the fan belt was too short leaving insufficient slack to remove it with the alternator in place, so ordered a new one from Eurosport for delivery tomorrow. Finally got the alternator off from underneath once all the bolts were removed.
Just wait until tomorrow, i thought, and on it will go.
Wrong, without the alternator in place it was possible to spin the water pump and discovered that that was the real cause of the noise. Simple enough, Eurosport were showing pumps with or without housing so I rang them and spoke with Claire, (who is an X1/9 fanatic and knew all about the National Event) and ordered a bare pump for delivery on Friday as the post had already left.
Back to the car to drain the coolant which I did then decided to strip off the pump ready for Friday. The first bolt I tried to undo sheared off. Bugger.
Back to Eurosport to change my order to one with the housing. By this time it was almost 6pm and the phone was not being picked up, so I left a brief message and wrote an email confirming what I needed.
Had an email from Claire confirming that she would send the diffent part.
So I now have the car waiting for me to get the pump off tomorrow, hopefully without more sheared bolts, ready to put back together on Friday afternoon in time for Brooklands on Sunday.
I hope to see you then.

Claire is great. She must think I’m mad. I’ve placed four orders in the last two months! Slave cylinder, master cylinder, brake hoses and brake pads. Hopefully the car is now working perfectly and I will be at Brooklands Sunday morning.

Great news, I look forward to meeting up. Hopefully Pete will make it as well.
We should be at Brooklands not long after opening time, due to the early start!
I'll be making my way down the M1 / M25 tomorrow afternoon.....

Max, I've deliberately not asked people to tell me who's coming so it will be a surprise either way! ~It will be fun regardless!
