Door handle not sitting right ? was created by Jason
Both my door handles sit too far into the recess.
Before I start taking the panels off and start having fiddle I was hoping someone might be able to give mW a heads up and let me know what I should be looking for / replace.
Thanks
Jason

Is this the outside handles?
If so are you referring to the plastic surround sitting recessed in the door panel or the handle not sitting correctly in the plastic surround?

The outside handles.
The part you fit your fingers under isn't level with the door skin. The point into the inside of the car a bit instead of flat and point towards the front of the car.

Hello Jason,
There is a single circular rubber grommet that acts as the stopper; the centre of the back of the handle rests on this. It can be viewed with handle pulled out fully.
If the handle is no longer sitting flush, it has either been crushed flat or is missing. It may possible to replace it without disassembly of the handle or access to the back of the door. The old one could be teased out with a small flat screwdriver.
To replace it you would need a blind grommet designed to fill a 4mm (ish) diameter hole that has a large head to it so the handle sits at the right height and can also withstand the forces of the spring in the handle.

Pictures say a thousand words so here we are
As you can see the "gromit" which is quite hard almost plastic is crushed on one side.
I put it back in, a bit fiddly, and you can see difference it makes.
The other side I didn't bother taking it out I just spun it around with a screw driver - a lot easier and quicker !
