I looked at values in Classic Cars and was surprised. Hagerty, aided by what looks like the Fiat Motor Club puts them from £1290 to £4250 max.
Are we on speaking terms with the club, can we get this adjusted? What are your thoughts?

I get on quite well with the Fiat Club guys at the NEC shows.
I think the valuations are slightly out of date.

However I think Hagerty ( and Classic Cars) should be questioned as to why they haven't contacted us directly??

Is this in the current edition of Classic Cars?

Yes. It seems unfair. Austin Healey Frog Eyes are over £20,000 and don't even have wind up windows let alone two opening boots and usually a cassette player.

Hagerty's on line valuation tool gives quite up to date values I think.

Mine is insured for an agreed value of £6000 since April.

Hagerty's is quite good, but a bit lacking in places... The Lancia Beta doesn't even exist!

I have mine insured for an agreed £6500 with Classicline Insurance. Garaged, 3000 mile a year with European breakdown cover for £107. They were happy to accept my valuation, which I backed up with an independent valuation of the car.
Like all classics in this price bracket, you can pay peanuts for a rough one, or pay sky high prices for something a bit unique. Good ones at dealers will command a premium over private sellers too.

Thank you all for your comments. It will give others an idea of how much to insure or pay for. £6000 is a lot more than Hagerty's £4650 for the ultimate example.

Don't get that, Hagerty's tool is showing £12100 for a concours 1500.

I wonder if that is based on recent auction results?
Currently for a 1500 I think a project car is 0-2K
A decent runner 3-4K and a mint condition one 7-9K.
It really is all a bit subjective as they are only worth as much as people are prepared to pay.
However, as the values are sneaking up it is worth ensuring you have a suitable agreed value in place.

The figures I have are from Hagarty's valuation tool when I used it just now.

Not sure how the copy will show up on the forum but here goes:

Hagarty's valuation tool just now wrote:
1980 Fiat X1/9 1500
Targa

Fair
£2800
Good
£4200
Excellent
£6900
Condition 2: Excellent
#2 cars could win a local or regional show. They can be former #1 cars that have been driven or have aged. Seasoned observers will have to look closely for flaws, but will be able to find some not seen by the general public. The paint, chrome, glass and interior will all appear as excellent. No excessive smoke will be seen on startup, no unusual noises will emanate from the engine compartment. The vehicle will drive as a new car of its era would. No customisations have been made. The one word description for #2 cars is "excellent."
Concours
£12100

Edit Yes, the formatting is a bit crap but the figures are there.
