LSD in an X19

LSD in an X19 was created by Rob Warren
My gearbox is out due to a faulty differential and a constant oil leak. I'm debating going for a Quaife LSD (my gearbox is a 1400 uno turbo top change) and wondered if anyone had any experience with one and if they though it was a worth while (although expensive) modification. This is a road car however.
Thanks

I have an LSD in my hillclimb X1/9.
Wheelspin has never really been a problem except in tight hairpins, and at the start-line particularly on wet days.
The LSD I have i got 2nd hand, I believe it to be a plate type from Bacci Romano.
I have a 2nd roadcar X1/9 that I occasionally use for Lanes rallys (events run on farm tracks and private roads, with timed sections). I would consider an LSD in this car also but for use along with a hydraulic handbrake to facilitate slides and turns in slippy conditions.
My view for general road-car use would be LSD not worth it or consider carefully what problem are you trying to cure.
Cheers

I would agree with Gordon's reasoning + experiences. A plate type diff (Uno Turbo type drops straight in) from Gripper at Coventry is a round £800 and a torque bias from Quaiffe about the same, the latter being easier to live with for road use. However, torque bias seems to be better suited to FWD's that are often scrabbling for grip, but due to the way they work if you lift a wheel e.g under heavy acceleration coming out of a tight corner, the wheels will still spin up.
Suspension mods would do a great deal to cure spinning wheels

There is an x1/9 near me with an LSD and the owner regrets putting it in.
