I have just returned from Western Australia seeing family and while there went to Auto Italia workshops in Morley just outside Perth to see an X1/9 Mario had.He was putting a twin cam Lancia engine in to race. Someone had cut along the box member enclosing the pipes with an angle grinder to get at the pipes. He said a good quick way was to cut the pipes at the back and then pull them through from the front, replacing with new pipes from the front and grafting suitable bends on to the rear of each. I thought that was a good idea. W.A. has a large Italian population and many imported cars have survived very well there, very hot, dry no salt, interiors suffer though. Monte Carlo's and all sorts of rare cars, so if any of you go there give him a look up. His web site has some good photos.
