Stopping the rain entering through the Targa top
9 years 2 months ago #37539
by Sean
Suggestions and ideas that will help me stop rain water entering the cockpit from in-efficient sealing of the Targa Top, and the corner of the windows, would be gratefully accepted.
If you know why the choke lever doesn't move please also tell me what is the problem.
The car I have is a totally restored 1.3 with new rubbers and stuff everywhere. [You should see it]
It is like new.
Never drove anything like it in my many years, and it reminds me of my Karting days, but with a body and a lid, leaks not withstanding.

You can adjust the clamps and rear fittings for the Targa top to give a better fit, but given the age it might just be the seals have hardened and/or been damaged. If they have not been replaced could with new ones, Midwest Bayliss do a replacement. Regarding the choke cable I would disconnect it at the carb end and if the choke mechanism is moveable I would say the cable needs replacing.
Please post some pictures, we all like to see a good restoration.

Thanks for that ! Rubbers are all new but I can't understand why there is no overhanging or overlapping of either rubber or PVC at the front corners, which seem to me to need it.
Can anyone enlighten me as to whether there is anything missing. ?

Hi Sean, could you post some pictures of the seals fitted around your window frame and targa?
It would help to see if there was indeed anything that was not quite right with your set up.
I'll try and take some pictures of mine later to compare.
Also, it would good to see a few pictures of your car anyway
