I'll be running the X19 this Saturday 1st October at Prescott hillclimb. Pop along and say hello - car 68 with pit position just below the club house. It's an American themed weekend at Prescott so my friend who uses the same race prep garage will be demonstrating his Chaparral, this is an incredible car and well worth a look at and even better to listen to!

It's Chaparral 2 that is one of the first ground effect cars but it isn't the one with the fan. The car belongs to Richard Falconer who wrote the definitive book on Chaparral cars, he also has Chaparral 1 as well but I don't think he will bringing this car as well as we haven't enough time to tow 3 cars to the event.

It was wet all day. I really went for it in practice and managed to get within 1 second of my target time while everyone else in the class were 5 to 10 seconds away from their targets. However at lunch time the handicap official decided to adjust my target time by 5 seconds despite the car being exactly the same as the previous outing. On my timed runs, I went a bit quicker still but was just beaten when handicaps were applied to the times. Felt slightly robbed as if I had played safe in practice, my target time wouldn't have been changed and I would have won by over 3 seconds. However, I set faster times than a lot of higher class cars including a bunch of 2 litre Westfields and a Porsche Cayman S.
