Well the attempt at a PB up Shelsley Walsh hill climb didn't go too well. I got about ten yards before the engine cut out . It would start but only run for less than a minute before the ignition cut again. Lots of head scratching and connection fiddling later it turned out that the centre contact inside the dizzy cap had started to break up, eventually falling apart when I removed the cap. The cap was brand new earlier this year. The quality of replacement none OE parts can be very variable on such old cars. The spares box now carries not only a spare cap but also a rotor arm.
However, my day was not as bad as the owner of a very quick 1960's Alfa GTV which decided to swap ends coming out the 'Top S' corner and hit the scenery very hard :pinch:
