That's interesting, I'll look into that a bit further.
Having said that, I've driven/flown too many miles in my lifetime to look at showroom condition cars only to find out that they are basket cases.

I was just outside London, told them I was driving to a pre booked test station in Newcastle but they still did me saying I was taking the pee and it should have been done at my point of departure, in the X1/9s case that would be Dover and then what happens if it fails the MOT?

If it fails, provided it is not deemed dangerous, you are entitled to drive it home to make good for the re-test.

However, if buying from abroad I'm afraid the rules are entirely different - if you are importing a car, then I think it has to have an MoT before you are entitled to drive it on the roads - and probably some other paperwork too.

Never mind the MOT issue, I've just checked out this X1/9s location and the nearest ferry point is Roscoff which is an 8 hour crossing from Plymouth plus another 8 hours from Newcastle............to view what could be a sack of rust...........it may have had only one owner but as my mate says, he'd rather buy a 5 owner good example rather than a 1 owner bad one!!!!!
I'll look closer to home.

If it's rough, stick it in an auction with some added dust... with that kind of history it'll double its value!

Too true!!!!

I collect Lambrettas and Vespas and knackered old rusty one can go for more than a fully restored one!

I saw a nice looking mica blue GF cone up on gumtree near me for £1500. Within 48 hrs i suspect it was advertised with a dealer for something like £7500 witb the plates covered in the photos.

You have to be quick!

Who needs 4th gear anyway...

I wish I had lived closer to look at that one, it seems that the North of England is devoid of X1/9s for sale!

Hi Tom.
I wasn't being serious about you going to France but thanks anyway.
I've told the woman it's not going to happen unless she brings the car to the UK as she originally promised!

I do drive through France about every six weeks either on my way to Spain or on the way back. If this car is on the west coast of France its no big deal. Next trip is planned for early July.

Hi Tom,
As it happens it is in the West of France near Roscoff Ferry Terminal.
And even if it is as good as the owner says, it's going to be some hassle to get back to me way up in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Thanks again.
