Sad question - your views on a value? was created by Ian Pownall
Hello everyone
Having just (finally) joined the group and bought a project car in June, I now find that I may have to sell it on. Sometimes life gets in the way of ...life.
Anyway - I am hoping members can provide a rough guide as to what I may expect for it with and without an MOT? The car was last on the road in 2014 so nothing too bad or problematic to resolve
In short - the car needed some renovation work (now done):
Welding to both floorpans around the jacking points.
Welding to OSR turret, OSR inner arch and a little bit on the NSR inner arch
Replacement of low tension loom to engine
Replacement of column switches
Replacement coil, spark plugs, ignition leads
Convert the bumpers to 1300 style (personal preference - I still have the originals)
I still need to change the brake pedal switch as this is faulty (to be done before Friday's MOT test). The engine has also been serviced and starts and runs fine now. Body otherwise is pretty good (small amount of bubbling on the NSR arch and a few small bubbles on the nosecone).
So it is in for MOT Friday and will see what happens.
What is a realistic guide price for it with and without an MOT?
Thanks
Ian

Good news - I have found a way to hang on to my X.
The bad news is that the X failed its MOT - but not too bad.
I had missed a couple of seams when welding the repairs which I have now sorted.
The exhaust was blowing - spare on its way
Some odd problems to sort with the headlights - one fault was that the beam pattern was 'obviously wrong'(I haven't investigated yet), one alignment too low and one full beam not working.
Rear handbrake efficiency poor
.and that was it after 2 years being off the road.
On this latter point of the handbrake- I anticipated this fail, given the handbrake was very stiff. I removed the NS rear caliper this afternoon to find it in very good condition, with what looks like very recent seals. However, the parking brake lever and parking brake cable look problematic - I slackened the braking cables (at the small access hole under the car) and the lever at the caliper did not relax at all - should it?
Cheers Ian
