How is that possible!

This must be a restoration surely? We're all those components zinc plated when new!?

It looks that way Jeremy. It was heading for a museum 20 years ago but never made it

ah I remember the one on ebay I think. It was certainly under-described!

It looks better than when it left the factory!

I wouldn't have believed my eyes! Looks like a lot of money was spent.

nice one

You're going to have to run that in when you get it up and running :)

I'm not sure whether the chassis was the one originally sold by a guy in the West Midlands approx. 20 years ago.
I know he was an ex club member who was doing a museum project car with a mint chassis. He never finished it and offered it for sale in the late 1990's if I remember correct. I wonder if this is the same one?

Have you put the Lido project on hold then??

That's the very one Andy, another member has been looking after since then.

Still gathering info on it but. The legend behind this car is that it was in some way used as a reference in the construction of the "Alcan" aluminium-bodied X1/9s. It was said to be in primer with measurements written all over it in marker pen when Steve from Alternative Autos had it back then.

Lido is nearly done, so I've had to stick this one back to sleep as it was distracting me from more important things

The trouble is though, what will you do with it?

Will you complete it and keep it as a standard X1/9 in mint condition or will you modify it?? Tough decision.
