Probably. I sent the same message two months ago and members here were very helpful. I can't fit in an MX5 but easily fit an X19, bought narrow shoes though.

I'm 6 foot and its very comfy, probably the comfiest car I've had! I've also fitted a slightly larger steering wheel. It is a cosy space but nicely designed.

I find trainers are fine but I prefer driving in my smart type work shoes. You get used to small fiat pedals.

I was pleasantly surprised when I test drove mine - it was the first time I'd sat in one.

Apparently you can modify the seat to go back a little further if necessary by moving the spare wheel.

Who needs 4th gear anyway...

I'm nearly 6foot and fit in ok.

The seats in the older X1/9s (probably pre 1985) sit a bit lower than the later cars. The later seats are mounted on a cassette, however the earlier cars have the seats mounted on rails directly on the floor, which means they are about 1" lower.
Also, the earlier (larger) dished shaped steering wheels allow enough room to get your knees up behind it.
As Jeremy says, there are various mods that people have tried over the years including removing the spare wheel and pushing the seat further back, however, I would recommend giving one a test drive to see how you get on.

Good luck with your search.

Hi Christian,

My boyfriend is also 6ft3in and easily fits into my X1/9 - and has nothing but good things to say...in his own words:

"Lots of head room, lots of leg room, can heel and toe gear changes and all controls fall to hand easily."

Best of luck finding yourself an X1/9 - you'll be hooked once you have one. :-)
