Hi, did all 1300's have a hazard lights switch because my 1300 has not got one but does have a hazard warning light on the binnacle. Also I have got a switch on the console by the handbrake with 3 dots on it does anybody know what that is for?

Hello Cameron,
My 1977 car is the same as yours regarding the hazarding warning lights and the switch by the handbrake. My switch appears to be a spare as it’s not connected to anything apart from the illumination cable.
My previous 1978 car did have hazarding warning lamps and the switch for these was on the top right hand side of the console next to the heater controls. The switch by the handbrake had a ‘lamp’ symbol and I think it may have been for the Carello fog lamps which had been removed from my car.
Regards
Keith

Hi Keith, that has put my mind at rest because I have got a half put together 1300 that has been mucked about a bit in the past , I was checking all the electrics today on it before I put the interior back in and there were one or two anomalies. Also I have got the very early instrument cluster which I do not particularly like and I was wondering if it easy to change over to the later style one without any issues?

Hi
Just to say that I've had 5 1300's and none of them had a Hazard switch. I do however have a 1300 style Hazard switch in my 'rare 1300 parts bin' which I removed from a left hand drive 1300 which I found in a breakers yard in Southampton in about 1988. I also removed the gear knob which has the gear numbers embossed rather than the standard plain black snooker ball style. How sad am I!
Cheers
Kev

Interesting - both my 1300's have factory fitted hazard warning switches and the indicator on the dashboard....
Funny you don't like the very early dash Cameron - I love it, just reeks of 70s design, - I have one that I am hopefully going to swap into my 'project' 1300, the connectors on the rear look the same so it should work, I'll keep you posted!

Interesting indeed Jim, do your switches have a triangle symbol or the word 'Hazard'. (My switch has the the word).
I vote for the plain silver/grey dash (makes me think I'm driving a 70's Ferrari - ha ha!) 'Star wars' dash too fussy for me.

Kevin, a picture tells a thousand words so I've uploaded a picture of the centre console on my green 1300. Don't worry I'm keeping the silver dash on this car! My blue 1300 also has the same switch layout. I've seen the "HAZARD" printed switches on other 70s era Fiats, like the 124.
Cameron - so was it a straightforward swap then and does everything work OK?
