Central locking? was created by David Eden
Just had the drivers door panel off to fix the window and there appears to be a central locking solenoid wired in my car - not that it works! I didn't think that X1/9s were ever fitted with this as standard. Can anyone confirm? Car is an 83 VS. I'm suspecting a mod!
Many thanks!

Definately a mod David. Central locking was never an OE option.

The only other form of central locking I know is to take the roof off. Stand in the middle of the car and press both buttons at once
Not very secure though

Thanks Terry I didn't think of that! I want the car to be original so it will be coming out, but I have to say whoever fitted it did a professional job. That is until it came to the wiring. Neither the locking or the interior lights are working so I think something may have been bodged!

Is the central locking kit any good?
I would certainly fit one to my resto car if u want to part with it in exchange for some beer vouchers...
