Practical Classics Magazine....

Hi,
I did an all day photo shoot and test drive comparison yesterday with Practical Classics magazine. The shoot was all day and we did loads of driving with the roof off which was a blast. The comparison was between Triumph Spitfire x2, MG Midget, MG TF and an MR2. So hopefully it should be a good read.

My X did 300 miles yesterday never missed a beat and the Practical Classics staff loved it... So hopefully it will come out with a good write against the competition.

Should be an interesting comparision. I reckon the X will do well but might get pipped by the MR2 reliability and twin cam engine!

Yes! It will be interesting to see how it compares with the MG TF. MG is much more modern of course but very similar to the X1/9 and MR2 being mid-engined also. Not seen them compared directly before.

I once took my old Gran Finale to the local garage as I was having an odd carb issue. The guy at the garage drove us both out in it to try and get the intermittent problem to occur. He said that he had an MGF and liked mid engined cars. Two minutes later, he said that he much preferred the exxy, saying it was way more fun!

I look forward to reading the piece.

Magazine is out.... They reckon the Triumph Spitfire is the best one but somehow I can't see that myself. But I might be biased!

I bought my copy yesterday. To be honest I was a bit underwhelmed by this feature. There didn't seem much comparison between all the cars before they decided on the Spitfire as the winner. I didn't find the comments made particularly insightful either.

Just my two pennies worth. Your car looked good though Terry

It was an interesting article but not really earth shattering. Modern cars feel more .... modern really and the older cars are characterfull but feel sort of ...older. Still nice to see an X19 looking good in the press and well done Terry for grasping the opportunity. I echo your view about the Spitty .... having driven one a few times I always found them creaky and crashy and not a spot on the X19.

1987 Rosso Red .... named Scarlett!
