Hi
Im a new member here.
Hope to get some advice for my car, from all you x19 enthusiasts.
I have just purchased a series 1 special. Its in pretty good nick but hasn't been used in about 10 years. so all the typical things are seized. I have been able to get it started ,tappets seem noisy. I also want to change the cam belt very soon.
So as i progress I'm sure i will have lots of questions. I Look forward to talking to you guys.
Thanks

Hi Rocco.
And a very warm welcome to the forum, and X1/9 ownership !
Very nice series 1! , all on here are willing to answer any questions you no doubt will have during your ownership.
I have learnt a lot from all on here since my purchase last May, and all are a welcoming and approachable bunch.
Here is a picture of my Exxy when I first purchased it, the car has undergone some minor cosmetic work over the last winter, and is now well and truly ready for the summer.
:woohoo: :woohoo:

That is a lovely series 1. That's a lovely VS too Nigel. The early VS with the lower two tone paintwork and speedline wheels is my favourite X1/9....maybe next year!

Sweet looking motor - do post some more pictures!
I can already offer you one piece of advice since you mention you are going to change the cambelt, while you are at it check the cam pulley, if it is the original plastic one I would change it for a metal one as the plastic does crack which makes it rattle badly... I had this issue on one of my own 1300's and it is a common issue with 1300's.

Hi Guys
Thanks for the warm welcome.
John ,
The reason it wasn't used for so long is because the previous owner had good intentions of restoring it , but usual story to many projects not enough time. So i was lucky enough to end up with it. I had been looking for a S1 for such a long time (5 years) then gave up. Out of nowhere this car presented itself.
Jim x19
Thats great advice I dint know that. I'll post some more pictures for you.
David
Thanks i agree about the vs , that model has grown on me the last couple of years.
Nigel
Summer is even better in an exxy. Hope you enjoy it. Im coming into winter soon, so i hope to get it on the road for my summer

I was also wondering where Rocco was based to find a 1300 in that condition.
OZ if I'm not mistaken?

Sorry i should of mentioned where I'm from. Melbourne Australia.
These cars are pretty rare here as well. I was told only 1000 specials were imported to oz. Not sure how many are left, I have been looking for about 5 years. I really wanted a green one. But I shouldn't complain as this car has an amazingly rust free body and most of the paint is original.

Sorry for asking dumb questions but I'm still trying to work out how to navigate around this forum. The car of the month (Green x19 by Mark Perry) on the home page looks amazing. Is there a write up on this car here?

Hi The guy who recovered the seats has since gone out of business and I understand the material was some he had left over from the eighties (made to emulate the old fiat colours) I just got lucky so I'm no help there Sorry!
On the other point I live near Manchester so keeping beer cool is not a problem.
