Roof not tight against body...

Afternoon all,
Just getting my X1/9 painted, and while I'm sorting things out I wondered if there's a way to get the roof to seal tighter against the body?
Mine rattles over bumps and even when locked in place you can lift it up and down from the rear. Surely it's supposed to clamp hard down? My seals look fine and there doesn't appear to be any adjustment on the prongs that locate the rear. Any ideas?

Thanks!!

The metal receptacle plates on the roll hoop can be adjusted - slacken off the screws and they can be slid about to take up some of the slack.. since you're painting the car take them off and squirt plenty of waxoil down there while you're at it to help preserve it!

I stuck some high density foam on the underside of the roof panel to stop mine rattling and to take up a small gap between the roof and the roll hoop.

Thanks for the replies. I tried adjusting both the prong on the hood and the catch on the roll hoop. Neither seemed adjustable. Surely they weren't like this when new? I wondered if it was wear in the catches themselves but neither looked that worn...

The prongs on the roof should be coated in rubber to provide some anti rattle. On my roof the rubber has worn away on one prong. You could wrap the prong in duck tape to provide some additional packing. On my roof i managed to move the rollbar catches back and also added some insulation foam onto the bottom edge of the roof where it sits om the rollbar.

Or you could add some foam packing into the rollbar catch so when the prong goes in it has something to bite against..

The trick is checking how much tension is on the front catches when you lock the roof in place. If you don't have to apply any noticeable force to the catch as you close it then the roof plates at the back are incorrectly adjusted. Similarly if the roof rattles at all as you go over an uneven surface then it needs adjusting.

The four screws that hold the plate to the hoop should loosen off and the whole plate slides. If the plate won't move then the odds are that the plate has either seized in place or someone has painted the hoop with the plates in-situ and they are now glued in...

The plates should be moved towards the rear to tighten the roof fit.

Brilliant. I'll try adjusting the roof later. It doesn't take much force to close the catches. I guess the plates are seized because it didn't move last time I tried. The rattling is annoying but I'm also trying to eliminate any water leaks.
