I know it has a set of lovely rare wheels on it! Saw this advertised - chap painted it yellow as it was his wifes favourite colour? thought it looked good, glad to see it it use - have fun!

Hi Julian and welcome to X1/9 ownership.

I remember seeing this car at Stanford Hall Auto Italia event in 2008. I'm afraid I don't remember who was driving it. I've attached a couple of pictures of it, one with it on the extreme right and a couple of dodgy characters snooping around!!

I also like the DeLorean, there's something about the gull wing doors and the brushed stainless finish. Perhaps this finsh would look good on an X1/9............

Hi Julian and welcome. I never knew that about the DeLorean and the X1/9! I have an Esprit so thought I was aware about that cars development as well!! At what point did Chapman and Lotus step in then? The car chassis was built around the Esprit wasn't it?

Yeh, it is more lotus design than anything ( I have one as well )

But from what I gather the original concept of the car was not a lot like the end result , about the only ideas they kept were the doors & the stainless. They ended pretty much just letting lotus design it how 'they' said they could. It was all to do with cost I guess.
