X1/9 - UNO Conversion was created by Geoff Piddington
Retro fitting a 1301 Umo Turbo into an X1/9 can bring out difficulties.
A snippet of information by a club member who had undertaken the UNO conversion included details of the non OE oil filter fitted, namely a Halfords HOF 238. Halfords do not exist in Australia which begs the question - what is the host vehicle/s for a Halfords HOF 238 oil filter?
My second snippet is that the Lancia 1301/1400 Turbo (presumably a re-badged Fiat UNO) has a verticaly (pointing down) mounted oil filter - very desirable when mounted in an X1/9. Can anyone point me to a source.

Lancia Y10 turbo oil filter fits ok. A Renault 5 Gt turbo oil filter is slightly smaller and does the job too

Thanks your email most helpfull. One question, as the Renault 4 was not released in Australia could you indicate which Ford engine shares the alternative oil filter and used in what was described as low cost (I am assuming we are talking Clubman or similar) cars.

Geoff,
If you browse this site:
inlinefilters.co.uk/index.php?main_page=...42&products_id=13672
I've linked to the discussed filter to give you a start - if you try searching on "3/4-16 UN" (the spin-on thread size) you can pick out from the list a few suitable size filters. Each individual listing gives heaps of equivalents that you can then use to source an Aussie made filter.
Cheers R
