Steady on chaps - we should be talking up the values of our cars now they are getting so rare! :) The car does look in good nick from the photos, and if it is an unrestored example that does not need restoring and is a non-runner due to a very simple fault then it will find a buyer in the course of time, genuine low mileage cars do fetch good money. I'm sure the seller would be open to some negotiation on the price... having said that the only way to find out is to actually inspect the car - if its just full of filler and rust under the shiney paintwork then obviously the price is very optimistic! ;)

The thing is, surely it is easier to sell a car for £4k that runs.
So if it were something simple surely it would be worth splashing out to have fixed?

I think the guy has looked at Practical classics, decided his car is as new condition, took off a couple of pounds for the 'minor' not starting or running fault and stuck it on ebay hoping the guy from Wheeler dealers shows up!

Nice one !!

I would love to see Ed China in one of these

I'm still waiting for the exxy to appear on the show.

Came close with the reference to one when they had the dreaded MR2 mk1 on there.

Mike said that the MR2 looked simular to the X1/9 which most rusted away within a year of being purchased !

Seems he is soooo wrong ;)

I would hold out my aaaaand for 2k any day

Its one of the best and worst programmes on the telly. Her majesty says I only watch it to slag them off, LOL!

I'd like to see Ed China fitting into an X1/9. I saw him at the NEC a few years ago and he is a giant!

Hope your one on ebay picks up a bit. Been watching it all week. You're auction finishes at the right time, Sunday night is the busiest night on ebay.
I had a car on ebay once (A 2004 Suzuki Ignis sport) It sat at £1000 all week and I was ready to bottle it! Went from £1100 to £2950 in the last 30 seconds!

Best of luck!

Mine isn't the one on Ebay.!

Its close to mine, same model etc, that one is a 1986 with the higher two tone line.

MInes is an early VS 1983 with the lower two tone split.

Mine isn't up for sale, and ain't gunna be for some time, (i'm enjoying it too much).

But if some offered me that sort of money i wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth. ;)

I'm sure that as you say will go for good money in the end, as you mentioned the bids can go up considerably in the last minutes..

D'oh! Sorry bout that. Its easy to get mixed up surrounded by pics of X1/9s in far better condition than mine!

Showed this thread to the MRS. who rather helpfully pointed out mine wouldn't be worth £4k if it was made out of gold with platinum wheels and a talking tiger in the passenger seat.

Huhh! I don't think mine would be either

The pictures do mine a lot of justice.

But these cars are worth more in my eyes than they fetch, even if they are not in such good condition.

It's important that there are people (as my mrs would discribe) like me and possibly others who are having a mid life crisis who are passionate about keeping these cars on the road and reliving their teenage years.

She also thinks i'm barmey and possitivly hates the Exxy and has only been out once in it!

Good enough excuse to spend some time on my own I say, didn't have an excuse prior to buying the car.

Best £500 iv'e spent in years ;)

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationCant see a rush of bids on that at the end of auction?

This looks better value for the pound..

I asked a question of the seller of the £4k car - low mileage is 51,000.

LOL! My Exxy was £25 and it has a genuine 43000 miles on it! Gotta be worth £6k once finished. Anyone want to pay a deposit? LOL!
