My god this is never ending! :silly:

I have noticed today that the O/S rear wheel appears to be leaning inwards slightly.

Could this be the arm bearing ? and if so having not yet had a good look is it an easy job ?.

I know the parts are cheap enough to buy, but do I need a pully to remove or are they usually fairly easy.

What does the strut top mount look like? Looking from above it should be concentric with the hole in the body. If it's off to one side it needs replacing.

If the wishbone bushes look badly perished, and you get lots of movement when you lever them with a crowbar they will need pressing out and new ones pressed in. That does need a press, but it probably could be done with a big vice and a selection of bolts, washers and nuts and a socket set.

i did change a set on a Citroen BX earlier this yr and they were an absolute pig.

Nigel, I know nothing technically, but can assure you it does end eventually.
When and after how much money is anyone's guess, but the car is worth it, trust me.

Hi Juliet.

Absolutly agree, i'm not giving up.

Iv'e loads of work to do over the winter months, while the car will the sorn until Feb, the engine will be out and cleaned and repainted, inc the engine bay clean up, and a few small rust area's tp attenend to, and fit some new headlights units, as it has at present (high - low) buls thingy's fitted whivh will be removed, and the list goes on.

So hopefully by next spring the Exxy should be up to scratch, it will never be a show car, but just an honest 30yr old car that needs ongoing tlc which is what I wanted.
To buy a perfect one would have beed of no interest to me as I like a project to get stuck into during the winter months. :lol:

As you probably learnt with your Citroens it is never ending but does get better as the list of jobs shrinks, hopefully quicker than new jobs appear. The X1/9 is a very worthwhile and capable car so all is good when we get a nice sunny day and the roof is off. :) Spent all day wednesday away with the roof off, just waiting for another fine day now :( .

Yes they are great little cars, I suppose I may have made it sound bad but it's not :blink:

As for the Citreons, this is a doddle to work on :woohoo:, the XM was alovely car but "my" what a headache.

I do use it like you say when the sun is out and love every minute of it!
