Regional map

Do I recall correctly that the old website use to have a map of the membership regions?

If so does it still exist somewhere?

Yes, that's right. It was used as a way of selecting the region for which events you wanted to view. I'm not convinced it added a lot of value in that context though. I can look to bring it across to the new website. What would you like to see it used for?

I wanted to use it to identify which region potential events may fall in to.

I guess it could also be used to help identify other members in your area, with a little bit of mapping to profiles. (no pun intended)

Something a bit random at the moment is the member location info on the site: many dont put it on and others vary from country to county to town to street. Town level seems most useful- maybe a mass e mail all members with some easy "how to set up up your profile" directions and a request to update it would make the site more useful - might have to allow a "location witheld" option for the very private!

It's not very user-friendly, but I can look to incorporate it into the new site if you think it would be helpful.

With regard to updating profiles, we try to avoid mass e-mails, especially as many people who receive them won't be active forum users. But we can certainly post an article on the website and in the forum suggesting people update this information. People can then update this if they wish to or not if they want to keep this information private.

If you want to arrange to meet up with members in your area, your local RO has access to our membership database which contains contact details of our members. While they obviously can't share member details they can contact people in your region to suggest meetings etc.
