Faults and Fix's section

Hi everybody. I am wondering how I see the faults and fixes section. Do I have to be more of a member than just being registered on the forum? I have lots of questions but don't want to post them in this section as it appears there is a designated section.

Following on from disconnecting all headlamp wiring, and forgetting to label, I have now art least got one side correctly wired, even if the headlamp will only go up...So now I am hoping to replicate on the other side. At least I have a refernce point now.
Many thanks,
Adam

www.x1-9ownersclub.org.uk/shop/catalog/p...th=24&products_id=73

to become a full member to see that part of the site.

I expect that the diodes on the back of your motor have broken down you can buy replacements for a couple of quid from x19spares.

happy to send some photos over if your still struggling

Hi Adam, as 1.8TS Sports says, you need to be a fully paid up club member to see the Faults and Fixes section. The whole forum was restricted to paid up members until March this year. When we opened it up, we kept the Faults and Fixes section restricted to members as we saw this as being one of the special benefits we could offer to paying members.

The full list of benefits is available here:
www.x1-9ownersclub.org.uk/club/club-benefits.html
The bulk of the membership fee goes on the production of the quarterly magazine.
You can join up by post or via our online shop.

Thanks people. £30 seems very reasonable for all that it offers, and I will most definately be joining, but having recently bought a Citroen BX and a Fiat X19 in quick succession, this month I will be watching every penny, so it will have to wait till next month. In fact, I may be laying the X19 up this weekend and driving the BX again for a few months, as it needs serious recommisioning, and I don't see myself doing it at the side of the road in London in time for the MOT, so it will reside in Herefordshire and I will work on it at weekends. The only way it would pass an MOT is if the MOT inspector just looks at the underside. If he looks (or she, could be a lady!) up into the engine bay, its game over, so, I plan to track down the section from another scrap car or make a section up out of sheet steel. In any case, it may involve engine removal and I will need to buy another welder, so not really the kind of thing I can do in the middle of London. I also plan on hiring a garage, which will eradicate the security fears I currently have. I suspect they are quite attractive to joy riders looking for an easy steel.

Hi Rob. That is most kind of you. Thanks.

Yes, its residing at my Fathers house near Bodenham now awaiting some minor restoration. Its not nearly as rusty as I thought it was actually, as the cross member behind the engine can hardly be called structural, and its much thinner than I thought in that its just a frame that supports the boot sound proofing.

Rob - It would be really good to pop over and meet you sometime if your up for it? It would be good to see another X19 too. I live in London at the moment but my Dad has kindly let me borrow his driveway in Herefordshire while I use the BX to move house (within London), and also to pop back to Herefordshire every now and then and work on the X19.

As a side note, and in keeping with the original thread, I am now a paid up member of the club. Does it take some time and then suddenly a new "faults and fixes" section becomes available? Or do I need to do anything?

I have a few faults with my new Xy... Headlamp motor electrics. Completely shot radiator, and the most worrying for me as electrics are not my forte... The indicators work but the Hazards don't; the switch just disables the indicators when pressed. But oddly, the hazards use the same flasher unit as the indicators from what I can tell. I am really eager to get stuck in so I can make use of the Summer months in the X19. :)

Regards,

Adam

Hi Adam, it's good to hear that you've become a full member. When Rob C, our membership secretary has processed a new batch of members he usually lets me know and I then set people up accordingly. Have you had your membership pack through yet? Anyway, once your membership number has been allocated, I'll change your userid to be your membership number and give you the relevant access. You don't need to do anything.

Hi Adam, Bodenham is only 15 minutes away from where I live so no problem in meeting up. We do a local pub meet each month. I have been really keen on X1/9s for about 15 years and the others (who are in the Wales group)even longer so there is nothing on the car that can't be solved easily - we have loads of great contacts too. Plus Nick Troth of p1x2000 ( www.p1x-2000.co.uk ) is local to us and probably has the biggest parts supply in the UK! I'll take you for a spin out in my turbo X (about twice the power of a standard one) to get your enthusiasm going!!

Cheers

A pub meet sounds really good. I actually bought my X19 from a pub car park (Englands Gate in Bodenham), as the guy I was buying it off didn't trust it would make a 280 mile trip, so he decided to drive it to Bodenham from Wales, where I dumped my BX and took the X19 to London for a week, and what fun I had; at least the radiator decided to burst while in Bodenham, rather than on the motorway on the way to/from London.

Rob - Your X19 looks very good without the bumpers. Do you require a body kit to get that look or do the bumpers just come off? I would love a ride in that. A friend of mine bought a modified MK2 MR2 Turbo - It frightened the life out of me, but in a good way. I am next up in Bodenham around the 7th July, and wondering what I might need to hunt for on Ebay etc. However, I don't want to buy a load of stuff, guessding what might be the problem. Im thinking, Headlight diodes, flasher unit, hazard light switch, a multimeter and test lamp, soldering iron, connectors, thick guaged wire, oh and a radiator.

At least today I managed to secure an underground car park in London, so the X19 will remain both safe and sheltered from the elements. :)

We are having a regional Karting do that weekend in weobley, so your best bet would be to come and meet us, have a chat with Nick. That way, you won't be spending money on things for the sake of it! The bumpers come off ok, but all that shape is custom built from sheet steel with a stainless front grill.
