Hello; I am now an X19 owner
Headlamps have a mind of there own, but most of the time they just dont respond, so for now I removed the motor wires so they are always available and up.
Has a severe hot starting problem: I just read about a carb fan so maybe thats not working. Also, I notice that there is a condenser with a wire coming off it not going anywhere.Very odd. And the coil itself gets awfully hot.
Other than that, its a hoot to drive.Need to back off the advance slighly as it pinks if you over load it. The steering on these cars is delightful. So neatral and relaxed, yet quick, crisp and precise at the same time.

You have meetings!
Its really good to hear/see that there is a keen following for the X19. Its a truely unique and exotic little car, that has a lovely ride, lovely gearbox(even if you have to take it slowly), well weighted controls (although the brakes scared me to death the first few times as I has just stepped out of a Citroen BX, and those cars have fully powered, yes fully powered brakes (as in, your effort does not go into the brakes, you merely operate a switch which sends you through the windscreen
So, I am guessing the brakes are OK and I just need to acclimatise to them. I thought on the way home, Citroen brakes would make this car the best car in the World (They fitted them to the Masserati Merak as seen on Top Gear's "Supercars for under £10,000". Right, I am blabbering on. Just so happy I have discovered X19's!

I also have jumped ship from being a Citroen nut, have owned BX - CX - And a first class XM, beautiful car, but I owned an X/9 back when I was 18 some 28 years ago  , and swore that I would own another one day, Well! Two weeks ago (having sold my last Citroen) purchased a 1983 VS, and I must say (reliving my teenage years) what a great little car it is, parts are cheap compaired to Citroen and readily available.
Just have to find an exhaust system, as mine has a rattle, I think it's the baffles, and a few other minor things to sort out!, I will post pictures of my £500 what I concider a bargin with a years MOT & Tax when I have susted out how to do it.!
Having fun with it and certainly puts a big grin on my face.
It's great when you get people ask "What is it"? most born after 1989, A real headturner, my misses calls it my mid life crisis :woohoo:

Nigel - Thats interesting that you also jumped ship from Citroens. I have had a Dyane, a 2CV for one week until it was stolen, BX's, some CX's, GSA and loved them all, especially the CX's and Dyane. The X19 is an all new World to me, although similar to Citroens in a weird way. Its my early mid life crisis!
Kai- Good to hear there are others who are new to these wonderful cars.I do have a picture I took shortly after buying it on the drive on the way home (200 miles, and the only fault was that the speedo cable broke, although today it decded to comne back to life, so think the cable has caught itself for s bit).
I have added the pictures as attachments as I have forgoten the code for posting pictures in a forum..Actually, that didn't work. Its this one from this Ebay auction though:

Ahh ! yes I saw that one, looked a good car, and at a good price !
I will attempt to do the same, as mine was also on ebay, I was bidding on it, i put a max of £800 on the auction, needless to say it went above that.
But two days later I was contacted by the seller, and offered him then £500 and he took it, the car also come from South Wales.
I will attempt to attatch the listing, I am no computer boff, so this may well go wrong !

Yes it is very shiney, but allas it's also been welded in a few areas, mainly in the front under windscreen whre the bonnet shuts, but it's not a bad job.
I plan to sorn it in Sept when Tax runs out, and then it will have a full going over during the winter, engine out included so i can properly clean the bay and and get the engine cleaned replace all mounts and repaint where needed.
It will never be perfect, but thats not what i'm about, its an honest car that's 29 years old and thats the way I will keep it, anyway I will need an excuse to get out of the house and away fro the misses during the winter months, and the X1/9 could not be a better excuse !
