Hi all.

I am now the pround owner of an 1983 X1/9 vs finally !! having owned one of these superb little machines some 28 yrs ago when I was 19, Iv'e finally taken the plung to relive some of my very distant teenage years, Sad I know !

She's red over black and with 57000 miles, can't wait to pick her up on Sunday 20th, and experience one of these agian.

Having spent some time owning over the past years (dare I say it ) classic Citroens BX / XM'S and shown them, it will be good to meet up with some of you more experienced X1/9 owners at some shows and get to know some of you.

Being on the south coast, I may be out on a limb, but would be good to hear from any member in this area.

Will post pics when she arrives

Thanks

Nigel

Hi Nigel,

Don't feel like your out on a limb there's more X1/9 owners about than you might think. I know that there are others along the south coast on the Worthing - Hastings stretch.

I hope you enjoy your new toy and if you have any problems don't be afraid to post, I'm sure there will be somebody here to help you.

Thank you to you both Ian & Rob for the warm welcome, and I'm sure there will be more than question fired your way once I get her home !

It's good to know that there is support out there, as I don't really know too much about the X1/9,apart from having one a long time ago, then it was trouble free with no issues, but then it was only a two yr old car then.

It's good to know there are a few of us in the south ,and would be good to meet up at some point, and also looking forward to getting to some other meets in the country.

Thanks once agian guys

Just to let you know I have a red 1989 GF based in Hawkhurst 12 miles north of Hastings. Currently diagnosing a slow starter motor problem that think might be a faulty alternator not keeping the battery charged enough. Will have a better idea tomorrow morning after an overnight charge.
Anyway, once it's reliable could pop down to Eastbourne for a meet up with other south coast members. Just an idea.

Richard.

I went to collect mine from Cardif last year. The return journey got as far as Chippenham, then it was AA recovery for the rest. The ignition coil failed. I'm sure yours will be fine, but make sure you've AA cover just in case ... :-)

Look forward to the photos,

Richard.

Whoops! Hope it wasn't terminal!

Well the car made the 280 mile journey back to Eastbourne, no problems on the motorway at 70mhp most of the way, but did develope a nasty missfire closer to home, and would not pull on accelaration, but was ok once it got up to speed.
It has a K&N on it which I hate a will be coming off, and a new electronic egnition, so not sure what the cause was, but it was fine once I got back home and it had cooled down.

Would the car have to use a fuel additive ? as I put £30.00 in (Unleaded) and was ceoncerned that it needed additive (I know it's not that old BUT).

Loads of spares with the car so have all the necessary parts to get rid of the K&N and put the air casings back on, so maybe that will make it run slightly better.

Pictures to follow.
