next i removed the inner sills,id decided to strengthen the car and change the floor design for one that was flat,i cut the strengthening in half thats hidden inside the sills, and welded 45mm square box the entire length of both sills

i then decided i also wanted box down the centre of the car,so i removed both water pipes, and the cover, and in their place i made up two new water pipes that will also double as the cars chassis

Attachment not found

once those were in place i joined the outer box with the box in the centre with more 45mm box "chassis legs"...this will then provide a very solid platform for my new galvanised floors, plus stiffen the car right up

Attachment not found

at this stage i had all the suspension that i was keeping totally sandblasted

Great work Nick, I'm glad your sharing it with us. For most people, a car that has rusted that much is just too far gone for economical repair but this one is very special car and needed doing. I admire your skills. I did a lot of welding on my car, but nowhere near the extend of yours. Well done mate!

with suspension refitted,i built the body back up ready for bodywork and paint

Attachment not found

Attachment not found

the main bit of bodywork was the rear roof, although the rear wing spoilers met it correctly,it still had the fiat x19 "square" roof, which was a major let down for the car and something i was determined to change

Attachment not found

i cut the rear end of the roof from a mini and welded it in place of the x19 roof skin that ive removed
