Clutch was created by Graeme Caie
Have felt a funny kind of blip when I pressed the clutch for a whlie. I new it was likely to be either the master or slave cylinder and ignored it till now.
Great weather today and I had a spare slave cylinder so I replaced it. Major problems getting the system bled. I know this has been a issue mentioned before!!
So I found that pressing the slave cylinder piston right in while pressure bleeding the system seemed to work.
But I still feel I don't have good disengagement on the clutch.
Looking at the lever it seems to move a reasonable distance. I used a plank of wood to hold the clutch open for a good while and there is NO slow return of the clutch arm so I guess that there is no leak?
With the new cylinder it feels much more all or nothing as a clutch.
Don,t know if this is just a symptom of fresh bleed which I need to get used to or it's still not right?
The car is still very driveable but just doesn't feel the same.

Have you taken all of the mechanical slack out of the system on the adjusters? That extra few mm of travel might make the difference you are looking for.

hi Grimey
have had a similar problem since fitting a new slave cyl. to the clutch and have lived with it for a while but if you have found a cure to the sharpness of take up then please share. Am also wondering wether I have too much engine movement that makes this feel worse but trying to rock the engine all seems tight but then the engine mounts are 23years old.

Hi, had same problem when I replaced master and slave, I suspect bore sizes of replacements may be different (europarts).

Still no cure. I measured the travel of the release arm and it's only about 15mm. Haynes says it should be 28.5mm. Don't know if there could be an air lock somewhere? Next weekend I'll remove it and check the piston diameter.
