Membership / Chairmanship

Well I've now reviewed as much as I care to, in order to try to make sense of this issue, but with allegations and counter allegations, the facts are not easy to ascertain.

There has been no explanation from the chairman or committee about the voting issues and no attempt to address these, which must bring into question the integrity & motives of both parties in a democratic club.

For those reasons, I'm cancelling my membership forthwith - I hope the club survives and thrives.

I'm sorry to hear that Shaun. As I joined the committee in November as Editor, I don't have enough information to really comment on the situation. There were indeed lots of allegations flying around along with personal insults and general negative behaviour on all sides. What I would say to you is whilst everyone focuses on the "Chairman" being the main role of the club, I remember back in the day when there was nobody standing as Chairman for a long period and there were no issues with the club. Things are changing for the better; the forum is open, the website is a massive improvement, the magazine is coming out in the next few days and the National event is set to be a really good one.

Please do remember that all Committee positions are open for candidates at the next AGM in October. If you are unhappy with anything in which the way the club is run then please tell me. I am simply here to promote the interest and fuel the enthusiasm for the car whilst keeping people happy.

I reread my earlier comment and as i was doing so, I was notified of a posting from Les which was deleted from the website before I could read it.

However, it seems that the email notifications appear to contain the full content of such postings - the content was not something that could be considered innappropriate, yet it was deleted.

This selective deletion of opinions or views from the forum makes me realise why it was so hard to find out what was going on regarding the chairmanship.

I think that there are individuals 'acting' in a way that's not necessarily in the best interests of this club, exercising way too much power while the chairman still fails to explain his actions.

This forum is for discussing X1/9's - for far too long it has been used for political agendas, derogatory comments and general back-stabbing. We don't feel that this is acceptable and what we've found is that the majority of our members aren't interested in such things - only in X1/9's.

The previous posting was removed because it broke our forum rules - plain and simple. Those who don't agree to the forum rules should not use the forum.

Matters such as this, that are non-X1/9-related, still need to be addressed, of course, but this should be done either over the phone or by email. The forum is for discussing X1/9's.

Since my last post I've realised that the PM system hasn't been switched on yet so you wouldn't be able to send me your number. Feel free to email me (chairman@x1-9ownersclub... etc) and we can discuss that way or by telephone if you supply a number.
