On some cars there is a sticker on the main fuse box tray, usually stuck on the tray under the fuse holders.
No promises, a sticker might be there........and it relates to the date of the loom manufacture, not the car....but atleast it should give you an idea.
Good luck if you are taking the loom off the tray, and check everything works when it goes back on!
cheers

My X1/9 was regestered in 1984. I believed that this was the age of my car until it failed the mot for trackrod ends. I bought new ones only to find they didn't fit my car. In 1982 they changed the rack and ends to be compatible with newer models (Fiat Panda). My car had the older rack i.e pre 82. I also have the old fusebox (non blade). Everything points to my car being pre 82, maybe it ws a demonstrator? Look at the vin No's in the survey. I found a car with a hassis no only a few away from mine. it was an 82.

I have a '83 scrapper
chassis No. 7148082
GeoK's No. 0000731
I assume at least the first 3 Nos. refer to modifications etc.
Is this the case??
I will try to get closer to the mark as time allows.
