Rest In Peace - X1/9 Owners Club was created by Les Mott
Out of the ashes a new club is born ....
This club was once great ... Now terminally ill due to Sabaticle Chris and his inner group.
There have been great dictators in history but alas the responsible Committee members who continue to Command and Control this club for themselves will not ever be remembered as great.
We are in the final stages of finalising a refreshing alternative - an alternative that will be free from this Committee Nonsense.
The members will ultimately Judge you through their renewals or their decline. I'm sure your arrogance, denial and disregard for members will continue - that I don't doubt.
So Well Done Committee - Pat yourselves on the back you have ruined this club - Enjoy spending the members money as you have - while you can - on yourselves.

Best of luck with the new forum Les et al. I have to agree it's a good idea to join forces with owners of other Fiats.

I am sure by now many of you will have had a look at our new forum.
What I want to make clear to you all is that we have not set up in competition or with any desire to replace the Uk x19 owners Club. I and like minded people having been expressing ideas thoughts and offering ideas for the club - All of this has been dismissed by the Committee whom want to run it their way.
Members have recently had a chance to vote on a new Chairman - this was important as it was a vote for much of the same (the winning vote) or a vote to modernise - open up the forum and endeavour to prepare the club for the changing multi-media explosion through Pc and smart phone technology.
We may be seen as trouble makers by many of you - we are not that, we just have a different view and at the end of the day its our money and so why should we not have a say?
Anyhow we took the decision to offer an alternative: Fiat CC is free to join - you just need to register and we aim to attract enthusiasts from all Open Top Fiat motoring. We aim and hope to become a very active Forum with many active members and we will organise events etc as we continue to grow - We dont wish to compete with the x19 club but co-exist and share a passion for these cars. We wont be having a nonesense Committee who will control members we wont be asking members for money so we can claim travel expenses or feed ourselves at committee meeting because again we will not need such meetings. For use necessary discussions will take place all the time in real time because we have the enthusiasm and commitment to be active and involved as much as possible.
If you havent as yet had a look at us then do so at your leisure - Your all welcome to look.
So just to be clear this is not personal or a fight of any kind - were merely a group of people who share a vision and have the conviction to make things happen.
Best of luck to you all and as a footnote we would like to bring a gathering to your 40th National - It was Mark Perry after all who actually organised this event Juliet? - However if we attend it will be as our Club Fiat CC.

I will answer that question with Data.
Look at the membership decline graph - 'Do as you always do & you will get what you have always got' And thats exactly your choosen path - Just my view - data speaks volumes...
The Pink Line represents people whom were given free membership - magazine editors etc - this was greatly reduced recently

I wish you guys well, I can't really blame you. Being a worthless numpty and broomstick pilot, I would be unwelcome; I'll just have to live with it.
I volunteered to do the EEM role in the hope I could kick start a revival, but I've been beaten to it, it seems!

Les,
I'm not going to get into an argument with you. I've been sick an tired of the constant bickering over the past 6 months with content that has nothing to do with the car. Whilst I fully agree things need to change (remember I supported you and your ideas in the run up to Chairman) I will still be producing the mag for the enjoyment for others, not claiming free lunches, membership or anything else portrayed above.
Many of you will know I took over the role of Editor only recently after Mark stepped down to keep things alive in the club. Now that I am a member of the "Committee", my endevour is to improve this club, the official X1/9 club, not build another.
Perhaps this is a good wake-up call to show that things do need to change?
A committee meeting will be held in March to discuss the future developments in the club. The National will still continue along with the magazine and other organised events. I am confident that the club will grow stronger as a result.
Good luck with the new forum, you have some nice ideas and I was always in favour of an open group.

No worries Rob
Striving for change against a brick wall Committee is not bickering so stand corrected on that - All the above is FACTUAL so lets leave it there.
Best of luck to you and the new Secretary
Bye the way I do this for a living and it always does drive change

It looks like an interesting forum Les and I'll watch it with interest. I think there's plenty of room for all of us in the X1/9 world and I'm sure we can get along together. It will be great to see Les and some of his group at the National.
I think the membership graph is a little misleading - as Rachael points out, it would look very different if the origin started at zero, albeit there is a steady decline. At the AGM we discussed the future of the club and we went through the survey of our members' views. The conclusion was that we were generally giving members what they wanted in terms of the magazine, forums, technical help, social events etc, although there were a few opportunities to explore. Also, the decline in numbers broadly mirrored the decline in cars on the road.
That's absolutely not to say that we should rest on our laurels though and this year's event which Mark, Les and Juliet have all had a hand in organising should be a fantastic advert for the club and the car (don't forget to book by the end of February to secure your place!). Also, we have a new website on the way, ideas for calendars have been put forward and we have an enthusiastic new editor who will build on the great work that Mark has done over the last couple of years. As Rob says, we have a committee meeting booked for early March, and we'd welcome any ideas that people would like us to consider. We're all committed to making the Club the best it can be so that we can enjoy our great cars to the full.
