Got the latest magazine today (well done Warren) and read the accounts section which is not the most interesting bit but the drop in revenue was a shock ! and begs the question can we afford to produce and post out a monthly magazine ? I know of other clubs with similar membership numbers who just have bi-monthly or quarterly magazines.....could we not consider these options if funds are tight ?

Hi Stuart

I thought rather than have a 32 page colour mag then a 24 page Bulletin, just have a 40 page colour mag Bi monthly. That way it would allow more articles to arrive and also allow more pictures and information. It would also save on a months postage.

We shall see next year I am sure.

This months BulletIN (December) is done already   Gasp I hear you say. Well, I have set up templates as I said I would and January's Icsunonove has been started already. New and Improved. Hope you all like it ! :D

We MUST have monthley mags and thats why it should be Full mag and then a bullitIN. The reason for the revenue drop being bigger than ussual was due in the main to the lack of a regular mag but now Warrens in charge I have high hopes of boosting the membership numbers along with the new membership database to allow us to try and coax back those members that have strayed from the fold........

A second problem is that you would have to effectively cancel all current membership and offer the new terms and conditions to do this straight away or pick a date and then advise all new members that there only going to get a few mags a year for thier money....

If a member gets a publication each month then the X1/9 is never far from thier mind and thus makes it easier to re-new as they would remember that it was less than a month ago from the last publication....

The costs are high because of the current full glossey format and a return to the previous format of a few glossy pictures where required and a BullitIN in between will aid the costs.

The lack of a regular mag will also hamper the jobs of the RO's and that in turn will lead to less events being originsed and planned.

Please also remember that for many members the only link they have with the club is the Mag and without it landing regularly each month many will just walk away from the club.

So in short... WE MUST HAVE THE MAG EVERY MONTH.....EVERY YEAR without fail.....

Give me a monthly mag and I will give you better membership numbers...

Ime sure now Warrens on the case things will settle down with regard to magazine production, howeber over the last two years we have had relatively few magazines and perhaps if we are ever in that position again a deal of pragmatism IE Bi monthly or quarterly magazines are better than no magazines....
Also lots of members asked me when I was TVS RO why do we try to do monthly magazines when we plainly dont / can t achieve it ? Better to have fewer and at least the ROs and members know when events are happening.......this internet forum is only accessde by a small part of the mebership and the drop in members is hardly surprising given the daft state of tings over the last year !

Couldnt disagree with what your saying but the problem isnt with the members that turn up to events regularly its with the members that have the car join the club and use the mag as a source of information that we must do better to serve, otherwise it will be just a core of die hards...

I had a vision in my head of lots of exxys being driven by Bruce Willis clones...... but seriously, I guess you are right in that its the magazine thats the main point of contact for most members.

As far as I remember, when the BulletIN was originally introduced it was simply a photo copied, folded piece of paper.
IMO all the BulletIN has to do is cover the forthcoming events, have a few small adverts and list the classified ads, this could be easily done with a template for a 2-sided copy.
If we went back to this arrangement, it would keep printing costs down and yet keep the advertising revenue up and the RO would have enough time to organise events in advance.
I think this is the way the club has to go ultimately as it gets smaller due the cars unfortunate but unstoppable continuing demise.

I have seen these BulletIN's you speak of and they would save lots of money so good call !

Lets get Christmas and the New Year out the way and I will endeavour to save the club money.

After all, I have just shaved £91,000 off our e-learning £240,000 training budget at work AND improved the service we offer. Its my job ! So, all suggestions welcome and then the committee seal of approval.

Lets get ready to RUMBLE !

I've just read my post and please don't take it as patronising. It isn't meant that way. I have the interest of the club at heart so I am very keen on getting things sorted too  I have a new improved Icsunonove on the books and Jim has already contacted me about Regalia lists etc so there are stacks of options.

As Stuart said
'Money, Money, Money. Its a priority of the clubs world' (or something like that) :P :P

I am 100 % behind Andy. We do need a monthly mag, if this means reducing the coloured pics and fancy finishes then maybe this should also be considered.

Alot of folk don't have access to a computer and the mag is there only contact with the club. As Frosty said in todays magazine only 10% actually use the forum that's alot of dudes relying on the mag.

Anyway top job Warren keep up the good work and I might share some good old Russan happy juice with you in Ireland next year!!!!
