I'd like to say that that I regret this whole episode. Older and wiser as I am now, I totally understand the dangers of the electronic world that we use to communicate both to each other and on a broader scale, to the general public and other groups of people.
For the record, I'd like to apologise to Charlie and especially Jacqui, his partner, for inappropriate language I posted on the forum a number of years ago which helped to kick off this whole, sad episode. It should never of happened and will never happen again. Unfortunately an invisible barrier grew between Jacqui, Charlie and myself which remained until this evening, when it was broken by an honest and a very constructive chat over the phone.
This whole experience has been a valuable lesson to me and has made me realise that old fashioned speech, is far more valuable than any other form of communication and should be used by people to convey their true feelings and understandings to one another.
Charlie and I both agree that the electronic medium used in the modern world can be very dangerous and can be interpreted in different ways by different people. We are all individuals with different humour and ways of looking at the world and as such, before posting replies to words written on any forum or web page, we should take a moment to understand the ramifications of misinterpretation and escalation of feelings our words can produce.
I have been one of two RO's in Scotland for many years, probably too many some would say. There are reasons for this which aren't purely selfish but if anyone would like to have a go, please, please, please let me know and I'll be more than happy to move over and let you take the reins. Unfortunately I'm working at the weekends just now but hope in 2012 we can get back to ensuring the Scottish region is one of the most active and friendly in the U.K.
As always, if you have any ideas for events or would like to organise your own local event, please let me know and I'll post your contact and event information on the region event pages.
So to finish, thanks Charlie for chatting this evening and once again, apologies for any offence to you or Jacqui I have caused in the past. I would also like to offer my congratulations to the both of you as I understand you're getting married shortly.
Let's move on and enjoy the cars, the enthusiasts who share our interest and most importantly, let's not become so serious that our passion blots out reality and respect for others in the club. I hope we can all take something from my words and understand we're all in this together.

I think its fair to say that each and everyone of us is guilty of what you describe - we regularly mis interpret posts, respond defensively and fail to appreciate that we all have a common aim - to enjoy the cars, share knowledge and meet at organised events.
I truly respect Charlie & yourself - mediation does work and like you say its important to keep the lines of communication open - the best communication being talking to each other rather than posting.
Well done to the both of you - you have both sent a clear message to us all that we can learn from and use as best practice going forwards.
I applaud you both.
