Hi everyone .... new owner here down on the Isle of Wight. Looks like I have just bought an ex-club car although it has had a sex change in the intervening months! It appears (for sale section) that my Rosso red D reg christened 'Scarlett' has had a former life by the name of 'Albert' with Bruce Robinson down in the west country. Well she is now safe and sound in my garage.

I am a bit of modern classic fan and Scarlett joins a mint Peugeot 1.9GTI having replaced a couple of Porsche 924's. I am not entirely new to X19 ownership having owned a W reg Gold one about 20 years ago. Have to say this one is in much better fettle than that one was at just 10 years old!

I do lots of car shows in my classics so hope to meet up next year when I have had chance to give my new purchase a good shakedown. It is expensive to recover a car to the island (as I have found a couple of times!) so I like to make sure everything is A1 before heading to the north island.

Regards Steve

My surname is Holloway too ! I bought mine from a guy in Brockenhurst who bought it from Bruce Robinson down near Yeovil. Be great if there was another one on the island though ... I've lived here 6 years and never seen one.

I am right in the middle of those two. Odd, been a member of the Peugeot Sport club for 2 years and they have about 1500 members ... but not a single one on the IOW!

I was keen to buy that car but bought another owners club car...

Another modern classic fan, I've currently got a Mk2 VW Jetta GTI and I tried out out a couple of 924's before falling for the x1/9!

Hi Steve H.
My '86 red X is still mine after 19 years of ownership!
It is currently being tweaked to be journey ready after a layup of several years and is very close to MOTing.
Just to correct Pete, my Facebook avatar is a silver Alfa 166, which is my daily ride.
It would be good to meet up so we can bounce ideas and mods off of each other & avoid the mobile camera van!

You are not alone.

Regards,
PaulH. & Deadred

Yes they did them in two shades of red, and even did a red Momo interior special edition Red Style for Alfa red colour. Trouble is this big car needs a correct colour to look 'right'. The headlamps look a bit weany in the wrong colour like either red, proteo or Alfa. I had little option with colour, as Top Gear's JC pointed out, 2nd hand ones are few & far between. Turns out the one I managed to get in silver with black without intergalactic milage would have been my ideal combination if it were ordered new. My last 3 daily rides have been silver, 2 through choice. Not everything in my world has to be red, although I do have a bunch of various red LED bulbs coming from the far East  to put in my X! [blame Frosty for that]

I'm over in the middle in Chillerton. Got a couple car buddies in the village and one of them is an absolute Alfa nut (and a mechanic!) ... he's just finished bringing a GTV (new type) back to life. The early ones seem just as fragile as the X19!

I went to school with a Paul H ... don't suppose you have any connections to Headley/Bordon on the mainland?

Up for a meet any time ..plenty of nice pubs between me and you! Pick a better day than today though!!
