Stainless bits for the X1/9

Ok been thinking about this for sometime and Switfy's post about the stainless pipe into the water pump prompted my mind again....

I read a lot of car mags and one of the mags I stay in touch with is a modified mini (original not the BMW one) mag.

Now there's a guy in the mag that made a load of one off parts for his mini in stainless to replace the usual rusty bits.

He did it so well that other people asked for bits and now he runs a business making them!

So thought was, if you had the opportunity and there was enough call for it (from the club and maybe international owners). What parts would you replace with stainless and why? No daft repllies like the bodyshell please....

My thoughts were:
1) The cover that goes over the pedal linkage (the plastic ones break and are pretty rubbish anyway).
2) the water pump pipe (as mentioned by Swifty) might be able to make them cheaper than the retail of £58.
3) Expansion tank (might be possible to reproduce those).
4) Exhaust heatshield?
5) brake caliper pistons?
6) Wheel bolts.

etc, etc.....

let me know your thoughts ideas....

Great idea

I hope this could be extended to all other aspects IE, group buying of parts, tyes, oils and even services too. A new club position as procurement officer?

Brgds
