great days of the past

today i found myself thinking about the days when i first joined this great club,1994 when i bought my first x1/9,a red vs with tan leather interior,the buzz i got from my first drive was like a kids first visit to a toy shop it was unforgettable,i went to my first meet in 1995 and what a first meet it was goodwood autoitalia event in 1995,as reward for putting our cars on display we were allowed to drive round the track for a few laps,i met frosty the red baron a legend within this great club,olly vayle the x1/9 expert,i then did a few more of the smaller meets and then went to the amazing butlins national meet in wales in 1997,thats when it hit me,i will never be with such a massive group of x1/9s again...97 x1/9s in attendance,a club so vibrant,so hardworking and so proud of being in our exclusive club,i think there was 1200-1300 members in the club then,such wonderful days,the looks on people's faces as we drove in convoy,people waving at us,our club and its cars envied and admired,now the cars are disappearing too fast and sightings of x1/9s are so rare,last night when i drove my x1/9 out of its garage i let some people cross my path before i drove onto the road, when a guy said 'i can't remember the last time i saw one of those,its years and years' lets hope we never have to say that...pete

Doing the events that I wanted to do !!!

There were to many times when members would ask me to do events on their door steps tell me what date and time ,,,,I would then advertise it in the magazine and they would not turn up .......and it would just be me sitting in a pub waiting for a return journey home of 2 hours

yes that has happened to me twice lol 13 members in a 15 mile radius and none turned up
