hi everyone just an idea for you to think about,i want to suggest that we combine the agm with the national meet, this way we would have a much higher attendance and as the agm does not take a long time it makes sense to combine the two and have a much larger input from the membership,i for one cannot travel 265 miles for a half hour meeting at the weekend when my spare time is limited...cheers pete

Hi Pete, we discussed this briefly at the committee meeting. If it was only a half hour meeting as you suggest, it might work. However, they usually last getting on for five hours which is a big chunk out of our fun time.

Hi Pete, it is a good idea and I'd thought along similar lines but I think generally people want to have fun at the National Event and put club matters to one side. Normal committee meetings are more than half an hour too - it usually takes around 3 hours to get through everything.

i agree with what your saying,so maybe those of us who want to give our thoughts/ideas on the club via the agm could meet a day early at the national meet?

Think if you check the clubs constitution you need to take this suggestion to the Next AGM to get it changed ??? or put the National event in October

Pretty sure the constitution says "AGM... to be held before the end of October each year".

Last time I checked, September was before the end of October

as i said 'kill two birds with one stone' no need for sarcasm is there chris? its a golden opportunity to get many more people in attendance at a convenient time remember your already looking for a new editor and a tvs regional officer, try not to upset any others

Pete, I think Chris was aiming at the usual forum banter not sarcasm hence the LOL smiley.

I think Neil mentioned things being taken in the wrong context in another thread.

What the club needs at the moment is more Karma

everyones a bit on edge at the mo.

Just my opinion.

guy, people are upset and disappointed by the lack of effort from certain members of the committee, some people want the title without having to do the work,if you can't be bothered to fulfill the requirements of your position then step down and let someone who has real passion for the club do the job.no member is bigger than the club,i am leaving the club when my membership runs out in october, something i never thought would happen but i will join a club that gets more effort from its committee

It's ironic that people ON the committee are bitching ABOUT the committee. I find that hard to get my head around.

If people want me to stand down and there's a majority consensus then I'll do it. My family would be happy, for sure.

Settle down Boys n Girls we've all been there before and no doubt go through this again at some stage.

Next thing we all be told is that the club is folding and all the committee has stood down !!!

This does not help the clubs image, use the phone if you have a personal point or issue within the committe, and leave it there.

i guess that was you who called me at work today then chris? i do shifts up to 12 hrs long so i always state phone calls after 7pm, frosty this a forum for discussing problems/difference of opinions etc,if we don't discuss them on here how can issues be resolved,we need to come up with ideas so we are competitive with other clubs,we are too expensive and thats a fact....we have 299 members on facebook now and these are people we should be enticing to join the club,we surely can bring down the membership fee for overseas internet only members down, each new member will bring the forum excess costs down.the magazine is not the be all,end all for a lot of people so maybe we could have a magazine twice a year and a bi-monthly newsletter on A4 paper for event listings etc,the one thing everyone i have contacted is....we want meetings/shows more than anything, when i took over the tvs region it had been badly neglected for many years,i have done my best to make everyone happy, not one of my members has complained to me,they are grateful for my efforts, but its not all been a bed of roses,i have had phone calls after midnight, texts at 2 am and although this has annoyed me i still stuck with the club, some members think you are on call 24/7 because they pay £30 per year, others have said the insurance we get from advertisers is not £30 cheaper than other insurers, lets grab the bull by the horns and make this club grow in numbers and respect

anyway folks i have said all i want to say,i am leaving the club in october and hope you find a regional officer for the thames valley region,i have enjoyed my time as a regional officer but at the moment the club is losing it's way,the committee are too frightened to give that little bit more to entice new members, the membership is too expensive, the forum is 'too private' i have personally paid out of my own pocket for 'best x1/9' trophies at my meets and i did this because i wanted the club to survive,i wanted people to turn up in their x1/9s and they did,i have written articles for the magazine,i bought an engine lid off ebay and got the guy to join the owners club!!!..effort and new idea's pay dividends thats why i started the facebook group its the biggest social network in the world,we have nearly 300 members in a few short months, lots of contribution from the members(i will keep this running but les mott will be in charge of it), i have had emails from my members thanking me for all my efforts and they have said...no meetings..no membership payment, their not bothered too much about a mag but would like a cheaper membership, i will honour the meets and shows i have arranged this year (about 12!!!) including olly's barbecue weekend which includes trophies for best standard 1300,1500 x1/9's and best modified x1/9 and furthest travelled x1/9,also the quiz prize is a engine oil change and new oil filter to be fitted by olly and i am paying for it all!!! now that's doing more than most committee members if not all of them....take note guys, love the club not just your position in the club ....cheers guys it's been fun ...pete
