I did a photo shoot a couple of years back, sort of old vs. new.

X1/9 & Mk1 MR2, BG-B & MG-F and Lotus Elan & MX-5.

The MR2 owner was a really nice chap (the international events organiser for the Mk1 OC) and we had a go round the track in each other's cars.

The MR2 in all honesty was just like driving a standard car. For every day use it would be a much more sensible choice tan an X1/9, but we've got X1/9s, and we all know why.

Funnily enough, Mk1 MR2s are fetching very similar money to X1/9s now and I imagine they will keep losing.

Our Orion is on its last legs and so she started pining for an MR2 having owned one about 4 years ago. She succumed and bought another white one.

Peapods in tears But dont worry all, I have now taken the ownership of Peapod over (I have always wanted that car but SJ insisted it was hers and I have the red 1500). I have never driven or even been in an MR2 but I will still be exxy through and through.

All this time saying 'we've got enough cars. No you can't have another exxy. No you cant have that Canon 350D SLR camera as its too expensive (£550) and we can't afford it! £2grand later and we own an MR2. Talk about hypocrisy. Soft touch I am.
