Out with the old and in with the new!

Having a good clear out at the moment as I'm getting a new spares car on the weekend, (Mark Slade's old 'IN' exxy). Its got a recent looking black carpet that i'm pinching to finish off my 'BAD' car. I know Mark has a nice red leather interior he is looking to sell - the last one left in Italy when previous owner (Chris Sweeting) had the car restored back in the early 00s by Xtra X19s. Old skool club members will remember it on the NEC stand!

Anyway, as there is not much left on my current spares car I dragged it out of the woods today and put it in the garage for a final strip down before its scrapped on Saturday. I thought I might make a few people laugh with the tin worm state!

always seems a shame to see another exxy go to the great scrap yard in the sky.....

A good wash and a bit of filler would see it right...

If it was an original honest car it would be worth saving but it's had a crap, cheap restoration done at some point. Filler has been slapped over the rust and it's just burst through! It was last taxed in 98, though I bought it 4 years ago for £50 on eBay! It hadn't run since 98 so I fancied a challenge. Found out the previous owner had put a cambelt on and got the cam pully about 1/4 of a turn out of line! Ran nicely and the sweet recon gearbox was a pleasant find. I did actually drive it with a dog lead over my shoulder acting as a throttle cable!!

The life skills you learn whilst working with X1/9s are amazing
