Hi all. Strange forum - nowhere obvious to say 'hi' for us newbies, so I'll just post a quick msg here.
I'm planning to rejoin the X1/9 fold. I used to have a '79 X1/9 back in about '87, and it was the worst car I've ever had*. Despite that, I still love the X1/9 and after browsing for a while, I think I've wised up a little bit now. Also I've had a chat with Tiff and he's been very helpful with buying advice. Have read all the PDF magazines here and despite the non-stop trouble-shooting stories, I'm still not dissuaded (the CRX/MX5 are the easier choices, of course).
So that's it really. Have already posted the Wanted ad (here and in the magazine), and now starts the search. From what I've read I'll be buying two - one to run and one for spares.
* And if anyone out there has/had a 1500 fitted with a 4-speed box that was painted in British Leyland lime green, then it used to be mine. Apologies to all subsequent owners for not scrapping it when I had the chance.

Thanks for the friendly welcome
Buy the best, eh? Well, annoyingly, Tiff told me that I missed one of the best Lidos very recently (story of my life, etc...)
Plus all the best-looking X1/9s seem to be so far away.

There is that. But it also means persuading the GF to drive me there and follow me back (because she will only drive her own car). I think I need to start racking up some brownie points...
Thanks Les and Chris, too. Will see if I can get along to an East Anglia meet as part of the process.
