Introducing Rosie

Sad to have to report that Blanche proved uneconomic for me to repair, although I have found a good home for her and she will be sorted and live to ride again....
So I have today put down a deposit on this lovely 1 previous owner, 55k mileage, VERY original exxy.
Looking forward to seeing you all when the weather picks up.

Possibly, I have an op coming up. Will know more in Feb when I next see the surgeon and get a date, if the end March/beg April should be ok, any later and could be iffy.

Aha - so that's one I can delete from my Ebay watchlist already. :D

Looks a good one - hope it's with you soon.

Sorry! :P
Hoping to take delivery in the next week or two, she will be going straight to IK Classics to have a bit of fettling as she has stood since last May, but as is usual with my exxys, she won't be seen in public until May when the "summer" starts.

Good stuff. Out of interest (would be useful for me to know for my X1/9 search), what sorts of fettling is likely to be needed on low mileage and well-kept cars that have been standing for a while?

I plan to stick my X1/9 into the garage during the Winter, too. It's only a '30s garage and I can't get anything bigger in there anyway.

Hmm, well I'm not an expert, which is why I have to pay others to do the work, and I suspect each one has it's own quirks. Rosie needs the door bottoms tidying up a bit (this is mentioned in the fleabay listing), but the main engine problem is the carb set-up seems wrong as she gips when cold (ok when warm) (might be the automatic choke, I suppose) and ticks over a bit high at 1100 revs, also the exhaust sounds a bit rough, may only need sealing/welding rather than replacing and won't help the tickover issue. None of this is actually a problem, I gave her a good test run today and was surprised at how well she ran given only about 500 miles has been put on in the last 3-4 years.
With Blanche I always let the garage have the battery for the winter duration and got another one off them in Spring, once the old petrol was cleaned out of the carb and new added, she always started up fine (albeit in a cloud of smoke initially).

Thanks Pete, I thought a good buy too, the guy had one 20 years ago and bought her to run a bit himself, not the sort of stuff he usually deals in, but he never found the time to run her.

She is in amazing condition and really original, here's hoping I can get 17 years out of her like I did with Blanche.

I think it was only the waxoil that was holding Blanche together laterly, Les, so I know it works!
Yeah, Pete, I think the guy just hasn't got round to removing it,I've paid a deposit and got a receipt, so no probs, she's mine!
